Rainbow Ink Blended Friendship Card, Honey Bee Stamps

I wanted to make some thank you cards for my birthday and most of them were going to some awesome friends that I have. They made my 40th birthday so special- and honestly, are some of the best friends ever 🙂  The Small Gang stamp from Honey Bee Stamps was PERFECT for this!

I started by ink blending with some Distress Oxide. My goto colors for a rainbow are:

• Picked Raspberry
• Spiced Marmalade
• Mustard Seed
• Twisted Citron
• Peacock Feathers
• Wilted Violet

If you haven’t ink blended with Distress Oxides yet, you really need to try it out. They go on SO smooth!

I then used the EK Tools Powder tool, to prep the background for heat embossing. This takes the moisture out of the cardstock from the ink. It also takes out the static cling. This way the embossing powder won’t cling where it is not supposed to. I also find the embossing powder melts more smoothly when you use the Powder Tool.

To get black embossing I like to use an Onyx Black Versafine Ink Pad and Clear Detail Embossing Powder. You need to work quickly as this is a fast drying inkpad, but I get the crispest images with these supplies. I find black embossing powder kind of a pain in the butt to use, where I end up with specks of powder everywhere.

Once the images were embossed I added some sequins using a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. All of my friends have gotten their cards in the mail, and I think it really brightened their days!
