Oh Happy Day, Simon Says Stamp
If you’re looking for a fun, summery card project, this one is bursting with color and charm! I used the Lettered Oh Happy Day stamp set along with the Strawberry Pint Wafer Dies to create this cheerful layered card. Here’s how I put it all together:
I started by die-cutting all the pieces from the Strawberry Pint Wafer Dies out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Then I watercolored each element using the Distress Watercolor Pencils, blending the colors with a water brush for a soft, painterly finish. Once everything was fully dry, I added a spritz of white splatter across the die-cut pieces for a fun, festive touch.
Next, I created a sunny watercolored background using Squeezed Lemonade Distress Watercolor Pencil, blending it out across the cardstock panel for that warm, glowing effect. Oxide-reactive papers do so beautifully.
Once the background was dry, I stamped “OH” and “DAY” from the Lettered Oh Happy Day set using Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. The oversized letters anchor the top and bottom of the card and really make a statement against that soft yellow background.
I stamped “HAPPY” using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide, then trimmed each letter individually into little tiles — letter-fetti! These got adhered right to the front of the strawberry pint container for the cutest detail.
I layered all the strawberry and pint elements together and adhered everything to the card using foam adhesive for dimension. The overflowing strawberries, leaves, and flowers sit right between the “OH” and “DAY” lettering perfectly.
As a final touch, I added a bit of Distress Rock Candy Chunky to the container for a subtle sparkle. It catches the light beautifully and gives the card that extra little something!
