Exciting News: Ranger has re-released ALL Distress Paint colors, and they are here to stay!
Hey everyone! I’m wicked excited to share that Ranger has re-released the Distress Paint colors that they previously retired- so we have the full Distress color lineup to choose from again!
Order them from Simon Says Stamp
To celebrate, I created a couple of cards to share with you!

Playing with Ranger Distress Paints!
Have you ever wondered what happens when you swap out your usual mediums for Distress Paints? Spoiler: really good things.
The beauty of Distress Paints is that you can use them the same way you’d use Distress Inks or even Distress Watercolor Pencils, you’ll just get a different look and feel to your finished piece. And honestly? That’s what makes them so fun to experiment with!
Card #1: Sending Big Hugs
For this rainbow beauty, I did some paint smooshing using a piece of acetate. The key to getting those gorgeous, distinct layers of color is drying each color completely before moving on to the next. It takes a little patience, but the result is so worth it, that soft, dreamy background is so magical. ✨ Then I added the big bold “Sending Big Hugs” sentiment with some gold glitter for maximum impact!
Card #2: Hello, Thinking of You
This one went in a totally different direction, hello, ocean vibes! I used a wet swiping technique with several colors of paint to create that deep, moody underwater background. And here’s a fun extra detail: I actually painted the little octopus with the Distress Paints too, so everything ties together beautifully.
Two very different techniques, two very different looks, and that’s exactly what I love about this medium!
Supplies are listed below, go check them out!

It is so easy to label and organize your Distress products- with the fabulous labels Ranger has available.
And now I have to ask: have you played with Distress Paints before? And would you be interested in a Distress Techniques class all about Distress Paints? Drop a comment and let me know, I’m definitely considering it!
