Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing a couple cards I created with Simon Says Stamp’s February Card Kit, Be Your Beautiful Self. This kit was packed with goodness: an awesome stamp set, dies, layering stencils, patterned papers, and so much more. It’s truly a perfect kit for all kinds of creators!

Collect Beautiful Moments, Simon Says Stamp Card Kit
I love the collage look of this card, it feels layered, thoughtful, and a little bit whimsical all at once. I started by stamping the solid images from the Be Your Beautiful Self stamp set, coloring them in with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I used the same technique with the solid butterfly images, and once everything was dry, I die-cut the butterflies using the coordinating dies.
Next, I cut out a variety of collage elements from the patterned paper and sprinkled them around the background, playing with placement until everything felt balanced. I also added a bit of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Cello Sticker Tape for extra texture and interest. Once the background came together, I trimmed the panel down to 4” x 5.25”.
To finish the background, I splattered a light touch of Old Paper Distress Watercolor Pencil for subtle aging, distressed the edges of the panel with a paper distresser, and adhered it to one of the patterned papers included in the kit. I stamped the sentiment with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and die-cut it using the coordinating die. Once all the elements were adhered, I added Distress Rock Candy Clear glitter to the butterflies for just the right amount of sparkle.
This is such a fun style of card to create when you want to loosen up and let layers do the storytelling—there’s no right or wrong, just play and trust the process. I hope this inspires you to dig into your stash, mix patterns, and collect some beautiful moments of your own at the craft table.

I have to tell you that I had forgotten that I had ordered this kit Jenn and it just arrived a few days ago. You managed to make it look so beautiful and I didn’t recognize what you made from the kit and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all, I guess it’s really a compliment to your artistry and creativeness girl! Thank you for all you do for our community in Shurkus land. It is such a joyous and happy place for me to be a part of and I cannot wait for the Virtual Retreat in June and of course Crop and Create coming up here too. I wish I didn’t have the medical challenges that I have right now and could go in March to Cape Cod too, but I will take what I can get for right now and happy to be virtual too as I have been over the years! Crafty Hugs to you.
