Hey friends! I have some Halloween cards with a fun little spin to share with you today! I used some of the fabulous coordinating dies for Tim Holtz stamps from Stampers Anonymous.
Even better? These dies are exclusively available at Simon Says Stamp! 🙌
Not only do they save you from all that fussy cutting, but they also unlock a whole new world of creative possibilities, especially when it comes to layering and collage. Let’s dive in!

Halloween Currator, Tim Holtz

To create these cards, I started by building the background. I began with a soft layer of ink smooshing using Distress Ink in Lost Shadow, which created a subtle, moody foundation, perfect for a Halloween-inspired design.
Next, I reached for the Curator stamp set and used it to add layers of texture and interest. Instead of inking the stamps traditionally, I kept them together on the backer sheet, applied Distress Watercolor Pencils directly to the images, lightly misted them, and then stamped them onto my ink-smooshed background. I love how this technique creates that artsy, vintage, layered look!
Once my background was done, I stamped several of the label images with Distress Oxide Inks and die-cut them for embellishment.
For the sentiments, I used the Halloween Whatnots set and heat-embossed them on vellum. To achieve that rich black shine and crisp detail, I prepped the vellum with the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool, stamped multiple times with Versafine Onyx Black using my stamping platform, then quickly sprinkled on ultrafine clear embossing powder and heat set it.
I wrapped the vellum sentiment strip around the card front and secured it on the back, a great trick when you don’t want to fuss with finding an adhesive that won’t show through. Finally, I finished off each card with the die-cut labels and a few tiny staples from my Tiny Attacher for a touch of grungy texture.
The result? A perfectly imperfect, vintage-meets-Halloween vibe that’s full of depth and detail. 🖤
