Ok here it is … the first post for July!!!
When this line of papers came out this spring, by Websters pages.. i squealed!!! LITERALLY!!! and then i proceeded to show it off to every customer that came into Colorful Creations!!
I made a little mini book (4×4) in accordian style… a cute lil book to jot down memories from your vacation or summer fun!
I asked Melisser to play along with my blog feature… and I thought for sure since she is on the Memory Box design team that her creation would be something of that style, but she surprised me!!! (she doesn’t blog anymore…. so i am showcasing hers here)
Hi everyone! This is Melissa or *er* as many of you may know me 🙂 Today I wanted to share with you a page that I created in my art journal. I have been taking an on-line class with Christy Tomlinson titled “She had Three Hearts”. I really love the concept of the workshop. It is based on an old Chinese proverb that basically says that a woman has three hearts, one she shares with the world, one she shares with her family and one she shares with just herself. I have been playing in my art journal and creating lots of pages inspired by that saying. The page I am sharing with you is one that I think represents the heart I share with the whole world. There is no secret to anybody that I LOVE the summer here on Cape Cod and feel privileged to be able to go to the beach and enjoy all the beauty that mother nature has provided us with.
The Main title of the page says, “The Sea Brings Me to Life” and then the journaling around the edge of the page reads, “feeling the warmth of the glorious sun on my face, the soft sand between my toes and listening to the waves lapping gently on the shore brings peace into my heart and soul”. To create the page I used so many different mediums. I started out with a full coating of gesso on my page to make all my paints go on smoothly. I used various tools to add texture to the page even a dollar store flip flop that has a really neat bricky look to it. I stamped some of my favorite Fred Mullett beachy stamps in Heavy Bodied Gesso and then added color to them with twinkling H2Os. One of the last things I did to the page was to dip the round plastic piece of an empty tape roll into some acrylic paints and stamp that down the diagonal of the page.
Hope you enjoyed taking a peek into one of the hearts that I share with the world and that you get some time to relax in your happy place this summer!
SUCH A YUMMY art journal page!!! , thank you melissER for participating… she is on a family trip to alaska right now… how fun is that!?
OK… remember… all of MY creations are up for grabs at the silent auction… read all about it and BID here!! (obviously melissa’s personal art journal page is a tough thing to donate, so this item is not included)
Love the lobsta!!! And love the journaling page. Fabulous colors!
First of all, I love that lobsta!!!! That mini book is such a fun idea. I’ll have to pick your brain Jenn as I’m hoping to make a mini book for my two b*tches chronicling their thesis experience.
Melissa – your journal page is just gorgeous! I’ve never heard of the three hearts, but it is such a wonderful philosophy. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Awesomeness!
Oh, these are both fantastic, love the tag book and the journal is beautiful!
