Hey everyone! Welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Anything Goes challenge last week and we hope you will all join us again this week too.
This week the challenge is Touchy Feely! Use some texture on your card! Remember you can enter up to 5 times! 🙂 We are showcasing My Favorite Things Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.
I posted this pic the other night on instagram because I had SO much fun coloring them I couldn’t help but give a little sneak peek!
Have you ever come across someones creations that just inspired you SO much you just had to play that instant!?! Thats how I felt when I stumbled upon Kassa’s Instagram feed. I just loved all the bright colors, the artsy-fartsyness of her projects and all the eye candy she was posting 🙂
I just had to try coloring some images with the bright bold colors she uses and boy oh boy is it fun!
I started by coloring a few of the cats and fishes from the MFT Cat-itude Stamp set. I used Distress Inks and watercolored. I then fussy cut them and set them aside. I think with all the watercolor layers, water splotches and splattering there is a ton of texture going on! I love it!
For the background I took a sheet of Distress Watercolor Cardstock and spread some Distress Texture Paste here and there. I then took the Myrid Dot Background Cling Stamp. This is a red rubber stamp so it works really well for this technique. I spritzed it with a little bit of water and then pressed the stamp into the texture paste.
Once the texture paste dried I spritzed the background with water and dabbed on a few different Distress Paints, spritzed a little more water to bend the colors. I then heat set the background.
Lastly I used some of the new Distress Crayons and rubbed them over the top of the background blending with my finger. This background is full of texture!
For the sentiment I white embossed “You’re kinda pawesome” on black cardstock.
I shared on Periscope just how I created the background for this card. Be sure to follow me and have notifications turned on so you won’t miss my next scope.
