Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Make It Sparkle

I am back with a Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge card! This week’s challenge is Make It Sparkle – Dig out your ultrafine glitters, bling, stickles, glitter paper, sparkly ribbon etc! The design team is sharing creations using stamps from Neat and Tangled and Janes Doodles. I didn’t have any stamps from those companies that Simon Says Stamp is carrying currently, so I went ahead and played with my August Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.

I just adore the Ice Cream Dream stamp set that came in the kit, it is so flippin’ cute!! I decided to use my Distress Markers (specific colors listed below) and color directly on the stamp and stamped the ice creams on Distress Watercolor paper. I then used a waterbrush to blend the color out. If I wanted it to be shaded anywhere I touched my waterbrush directly to the distress marker (on the brush tip side) and picked more of the color up, to paint onto my ice creams. Once I had my 5 cones colored and fussy cut out I was struggling with what to do next.

I really liked the “I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream” sentiment so I decided to create my own background by repetitively stamping that in creamy brown chalk ink. The sentiment was in a block shape, so it made it easy to line up, but you could use a stamp positioner if you wanted.

I added the sparkle to the cones and hearts by using glossy accents and Distress Stickles Dry Glitter in Rock Candy. I diecut out a scalloped circle from the scalloped circle stackable dies from Lawn Fawn, and then stamped “all you need is ice cream” in vintage sepia Versafine ink.
