Hey friends! Simon Says Stamp has come out with some more coordinating dies to work with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamp sets, this time with a holiday theme! I used some of the fabulous coordinating dies to create these cards.
These dies are exclusively available at Simon Says Stamp! 🙌
Not only do they save you from all that fussy cutting, but they also unlock a whole new world of creative possibilities, especially when it comes to layering and collage. Let’s dive in!

Scribbly Christmas, Tim Holtz

For this card, I started by creating a colorful, playful background using Distress Watercolor Pencils. I dipped the pencils into a cup of water and scribbled the color directly onto my Tim Holtz Non-Stick Craft Sheet. This mat is one of my favorites, it grips nicely to my glass tabletop, and the surface helps “catch” the watercolor pencils, making it perfect for swiping techniques like this.
Once I was happy with the blend of colors, I swiped the color onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and dried it with my Ranger Heat Tool. To add a little extra sparkle and interest, I splattered some gold paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Palette over the background.
For the trees, I scribbled Distress Watercolor Pencils directly onto the stamps in rainbow order, then stamped them onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I love this technique, it creates such a fun, organic watercolor look with minimal effort. I used the coordinating dies from Simon Says Stamp to cut out the trees, which makes this step quick and easy. I stamped and die-cut the sentiment as well.
To assemble the card, I popped up the trees and sentiment with foam squares for added dimension. As a finishing touch (because sparkle is always a good idea 😉), I added Distress Rock Candy to bring in some texture and shine.
This card is such a fun reminder of how playful watercoloring can be, especially when you let the colors do their thing. I hope it inspires you to pull out your watercolor pencils and experiment with swiping, stamping, and layering color. As always, have fun creating… and don’t forget to glitter all of the things! ✨🎄
