Monster Reunion, Tim Holtz

I say this every year, and I will say it again- I LOVE Halloween and wish the season was a tad bit longer to allow for more creating. I am happy I took some time to create a few Halloween cards – and got a chance to play with some new Tim Holtz goodies!

For this first card I started by creating a fun background with Distress Oxide Sprays. Want to know a secret? This was just my practice background for this scarecrow card I created. Instead of tossing it I kept it on my studio table, and it worked perfectly with this creation! It is a mixture of Black Soot, Rusty Hinge, Frayed Burlap, and Seedless Preserves. Layering, and adding water with each layer. Heat setting in between, and just PLAYING.

I stamped the fun little pumpkin from Monster Reunion colored with Copics, and fussy cut out. To get the in-between spots I used a Fiskars Finger X-acto- love that thing! To finish off the background I stamped the really fun and spooky spider webs from Life of the Party.

I then splattered some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust. Lastly, for the sentiment, I “word fetti”, cut it out with scissors and inked it a bit with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide.

I had so much fun creating this card with this adorable monster! I stamped him, Copic colored him, and fussy cut him out. For the background, I ink blended with Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide inks. I then took the mini stencil that looked like stretched gauze, and a clean ink blending tool and smooshed some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust through it. I tore 2 pieces of black cardstock and adhered to the background to really frame in the monster.
