It’s all about DISTRESS for this challenge 🙂 You can distress the edges of paper, sand, or use Distress products- whatever you would like. I decided this was the perfect time to play with one of the Distress Colors for 2015. Did you know that Ranger and Tim Holtz are releasing a new color each month this year?! So much fun!
So far Tim has released Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral and just announced Mermaid Lagoon ( I can.not.wait for that one! ) For this card I played with Abandoned Coral- such a beautiful red. I used the Distress Spray Stains on my Ranger Craft Sheet and then also spritzed some Perfect Pearls mist. I smooshed a sheet of Distress Watercolor Cardstock into the puddles of color, then heat set. Then smooshed it some more. You can keep adding layers as long as you heat set in between.
I stamped one of the flirty frames from Lawn Fawn with the Distress Ink Pad and then used a waterbrush to brush the color inward. Distress Inks take longer to dry, so they work perfectly for this type of watercoloring. Finishing the card off with some of the new Lawn Fawn Hearts Wood Veneer.
Above I wanted to be able to show you the beautiful shimmer the Perfect Pearls mist gives. Note to self: be sure your nail polish doesn’t clash with the card you are showcasing 😉
I just LOVE Distress Inks. If you search for them on my blog, in the right column there is a search form, you will see how often I use them and all the things you can do with them as well.
For this Lawnscaping Challenge Lawn Fawn is sponsoring, so this is your chance to win a Gift Certificate from them! I hope you will play along and show us your distressed creations!!
Beautiful card Jenn and what a great colour that abandoned coral is! Love how you combined the stain with the perfect pearls (great tip!) and the watercolour effect on your stamped frame is lovely. Your nails coordinate perfectly too, well done! :O)
Gorgeous!
Gorgeous … that background really pops!!! wow!!!!
Great card! And thanks for the tip on stamping with distress inks and then pulling the color over the image before it dries! How clever!!
This is so awesome!!! I’m still waiting to get my hands on some abandoned coral, and this card just emphasizes that the struggle is real!! Ha ha!! Love how bold this is and the flirty frame is just perfect!!
O – em – gee! That color is much different than I thought it would be and I must now go procure some immediately. It’s like a cross between cherry red and coral. Love that inky background and the hints of embossing powder.
