Today I participated in the last shoebox swap at Ink About It. They are closing soon, and although I still have 2 classes left to teach there- it is bittersweet that today was the last shoebox swap. These events have always been a wicked fun time, they are laid back, let people show their style AND you walk away with an awesome stash of cards! This is one of the many many reasons why independent stores are so important. I’m sorry, I don’t see a Micheal’s, Hobby Lobby or even AC Moore manager coming in on a day the store is closed, and offering an event like this for FREE for their customers. There I said it. Anyways, I will miss these fun days, it’s not often that I get to sit and create and not be the one teaching so I have always looked forward to these days.
The theme for today’s swap was “anything goes” so there were all different genre’s of cards to make. I decided to design a “keep in touch” card, because I mean just that. I hope to truly keep in touch with these awesome peeps! What better way to be able to do that? Social Media!
Love the card — wish we had a craft store of any kind within 3 hours of here, but that’s just wishful thinking. That’s why I rely on folks like you with great blogs and ideas.
A perfect card for the day – and insanely clever. I am heartbroken for you and you know all to well I understand the frustration.
Fun card, Jenn! I was only able to get up to Ink About It once, but loved the store and class I took and am also sorry to see another independent stamping store close its doors. The sense of community is so important. I sympathize with your loss but hope you’ll continue to teach down in CT. I loved my first ever class with you at PC in Westbrook! I also wish the lovely women from Ink About It all the best as they move on to new life adventures!
Great card Jenn! Cheerful and bold to beat-with a great message! Sad to see the store closed as it is getting harder and harder to find personal service and fun times at the box stores.
Fun card!! So bright and it reminds me of Spring and Summer; all that yellow!
Love how you used that FAB new Lawn Fawn stamp set!!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!!
Love this card, Jenn! Such a perfect card to use for the shoebox swap! The social media icons are perfect. I wish we had a local store around here that offered classes. I think our last local store closed about 4 years ago. 🙁
Totally awesome card Jenn! I love the sentiment & the idea behind it. So sad to loose a place where people can really come together and share what they love in person. We’re down to one store in my area down from five. I really need to start taking more classes.
