Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Flowers featuring Prima Marketing | shurkus.comNote: Don’t miss this week’s Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!

Destination Boston

Welcome! Whether you are coming from the Hero Arts Blog, Jennifer McGuire’s Blog or you are one of my loyal readers I hope you are having a fabulous day!! It’s an exciting time over at Hero Arts! Their big Summer 2016 release is in the Hero Arts store TODAY!! They have a fun blog hop that hopefully inspires you. You can see all of the new goodies in action! I am so excited to be part of it!

Instagram Photo: Collins Rep Spring Trade Show
I recently met Libby in person at a trade show for retailers in Boston- we were both teaching classes and representing Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn. We have been online friends for a long time but it is always nice to meet in real life and give a real life hug! She gifted me this fabulous Boston stamp.
Destination Boston, Hero Arts
Boston, Hero Arts | shurkus.com
I had so much fun creating this card, but I’m not going to lie it took multiple tries. I knew how I wanted it to look but had issues with the ink running etc. I finally got the brilliant idea to heat emboss the stamp. This was perfect! The raised image helped contain the watercolor to where I wanted it and now I am absolutely in LOVE with this card!
I used Distress Inks for the watercoloring in Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin.
It’s fitting too since I am moving back to Massachusetts in just over a week! I love how it features all of the best landmarks- there’s even a home run ball coming out of Fenway!
Featured on the stamp:
  • Soldiers and Sailors Monument
  • Faneuil Hall
  • Prudential Tower
  • Fenway Park
  • Custom House Tower
  • Zakim Bridge
  • Boston Harbor

Great colors! I’m reassured that I’m not the only one who has trouble with the ink bleeding when I watercolor. I love the baseball flying out of Fenway, must have been David Ortiz’s 500 home run which he hit today!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Boston (I live in CT) but this stamp brings it all back. I remember going to Faneuil Hall and having something really delicious to eat there. I also think I bought a stamp or 2 there. I also remember a lot of the streets were one way and that frustrated my parents. Boston is a beautiful city and someday I would like to go back. I love how you did the background. It’s just the right amount of color for that card. It must have also been fun to meet your friend there. Congrats on your move and I hope you get to enjoy Boston more.

Last time I tried this with water coloring I still got some bleeding (from either the ink or embossed powder- not sure which was the source) though, so I’d love to hear what brands u used to stamp and emboss, with such great results . Thanks!
