Hero Arts 45th Anniversary Blog Hop, Day 3

Hi everyone! Can you believe that Hero Arts is celebrating 45 years!! Since I just turned 40 this is even more amazing to me! Welcome to the 3rd day of the Hero Arts 45th Anniversary Blog Hop! Hero Arts is bringing back some stamps from the “vault”, ones that were released many years ago, retired, but available again! I have a fun card set to share with you as well as a tutorial on how I created them. Keep reading, there are giveaways as well!

If you are visiting my blog for the first time or have not yet subscribed – be sure to do so! I share lots of handmade projects every week delivering them straight to your inbox! I also occasionally share information about crafty classes and new product releases I love. Subscribe here.

You can see the cards I shared yesterday in the hop here

These are some of my favorite stamps and was so excited to see Hero Arts was releasing them from the vault. Real Poppy and Aged Shadow stamp gave me MANY hours of fun back in the day. They made me feel like I was a TRUE artist. Let me share with you how I created these artistic cards.

How To:

Hero Arts, From the Vault, Aged Shadow Stamp

note: I am using Distress Oxide ink for my tutorial, you can substitute with any pigment inks. I am using Distress Watercolor Cardstock because I like the weight of the paper and how the inks look on it, but you could use regular cardstock as well

  1. Using the Aged Shadow Stamp, ink up the whole stamp with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide.
  2. Ink just the edges of the Aged Shadow Stamp with Wild Honey Distress Oxide
  3. Ink even less of the edges with Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide
  4. Stamp onto the smooth side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Be sure to give good “CPR” presses, to transfer all the ink and texture.

Hero Arts, From the Vault, Real Poppy

  1. Ink the whole top of the Real Poppy Stamp with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide.
  2. Ink the bottom portion of the Real Poppy Stamp with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide
  3. Ink even less of the bottom of the Real Poppy Stamp with Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide
  4. Ink a teeny bit of the edges with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide

  1. Ink the stem and let some of the ink touch the base of the Real Poppy Stamp with Forest Moss Distress Oxide

  1. Stamp the Real Poppy Stamp onto the background you stamped previously. Be sure to give good “CPR” presses, to transfer all the ink and texture.

Tips:

  • When inking up your stamp in multiple colors be sure to work light to dark. Below I listed the inks in the order that I used them
  • PLAY! EXPERIMENT! Try different color combos and have fun
  • Create a bunch of these and keep on hand to add sentiments later. I used the sentiments in the Thanks Stamp & Cut set. Stamping them in black ink and cutting them out with my scissors, I like to call this “word Fetti”
