November comes around. I enjoy making the cards so much more when I have time to play with different supplies and techniques. I share these cards on the third Thursday of each month. You can see previous Get Cracking on Christmas posts here.
In December, I asked people in my {creative chick} studio share Facebook group, that if you didn’t send holiday cards in 2020, what were the reasons. One of the most common responses if they didn’t have enough time.
So I was thinking, how can I give you time? And I came up with a plan! I know that you enjoy when I host LIVEs and share with you a technique, or how I created a card- so this year each month for Get Cracking on Christmas I am going to host a LIVE. During these LIVEs, I encourage you to join me and start to Get Cracking on your OWN holiday cards. You can do something similar to mine, or just work on your own thing. Doesn’t matter, just show up and create!
This month’s YouTube LIVE will be, tomorrow, August 27th at 8:00p ET right on my YouTube channel here. Stop reading, and set an alarm now on your phone so you don’t miss out. You can use the world clock here to figure out what time it will be where you live.
Want a reminder text on your phone before I go LIVE? Text “jennshurkus” to 833-758-0501
Don’t worry, if you can’t make my LIVE you can always catch the replay on my YouTube channel, and I will also post the video below.
And as you are creating your holiday cards this year, be sure to leave me a comment below with a link, or tag me on Instagram so I can see! We are also going to use the hashtag #getcrackingonchristmas.
We can do this! We can create holiday cards all year, and be a little bit more prepared for the holiday season!
Ok, enough chatting, let’s get this party started!!
I do have some wicked creative friends sharing their holiday cards today to inspire you!
Get Cracking: Meowy Christmas
For this card, I used the Do Re MEow stamp set from Trinity Stamps.
I created this scene by doing a little masking, it is actually all one layer except for the sentiments. I will share some tips and tricks on how I go about masking on a scene like this during my YouTube LIVE.
Once all of the images were masked I did some ink blending on the background with Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides. Then using the Snowy Sky Stencil from Lawn Fawn, I spread some Ranger Texture Paste through to create the snowy background.
I then peeled off all the masks and colored the images with Copic markers. I will share the color combos I used to create the calico, orange tabby, and Mister Harley during my YouTube LIVE.
I then stamped and die-cut out FA LA LA LA LA .. using Freshly Cut Grass Lawn Fawn ink. On a piece of Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock, I white embossed “We wish you a Meowy Christmas”, and die-cut that as well. I love that Trinity Stamps includes dies that cut out around the words.
I stamped some individual music notes with Versafine Onyx Black, and then of course added some Prisma glitter with a Quickie Glue pen.
I can’t wait to share some more tips and tricks with you tomorrow night, I hope you will join me, over on my YouTube channel at 8p ET.

Cute cute cute card. . . Looking forward to Journey schedule!
Love the kitties. Must be your three. Great inspiration. Thank you for all you do.
Very cute,. Love all your colors used. I only do snowman on my Christmas cards (I’m known for that) so I will not be using cats but will probably steel your color scheme.
Live watching you create and your outcome.
