Ok, let’s be honest.
November rolls around and we say to ourselves “man I should’ve started making holiday cards A LOT sooner.”
or
“I have so many wicked cute holiday sets that I haven’t even had a chance to play with yet.”
I am going to guess that most of you who are reading this post fall into one if not both of those scenarios. So last year I was talking with my crafty friends and I mentioned it would be fun to challenge each other to create at least one-holiday card a month. I mean, that would give me 12 handmade holiday cards to send out this year and that would be way more then I sent out last year.
So each month on the third Thursday I am going to post a holiday creation and hopefully inspire you to create one too!
If you do end up making any please leave a comment below with a link, or tag me on instagram so I can see! We are also going to use the hashtag #getcrackingonchristmas
We can do this! We can create holiday cards all year, and be a little bit more prepared for the holiday season!

Get Cracking: Fa La La Holiday
I fell in love with the Neat & Tangled Fa La La Cover Plate the minute it came out. I hesitated to purchase it, and then it was back-ordered for a bit. Finally adding it to my stash I just had to use it!
I am loving making holiday cards in the offseason because I am even more inspired to use non-traditional colors. I get really tired of just red and green.
Both cards started with Distress Watercolor Cardstock. For the MERRY card, I watercolored with Distress Inks after die-cutting the cover plate. For the PEACE card, I watercolored before.
Using regular Distress Inks, I watercolored the background with the following colors:
- Picked Raspberry
- Festive Berries
- Spiced Marmalade
- Squeezed Lemonade
- Twisted Citron
- Peacock Feathers
- Wilted Violet
I then colored the yeti from Mama Elephant’s Me and My Yeti with Copic markers.
Using Mama Elephant’s Color Me Letters again to create the sentiments. This time I just fussy cut them out.
I finished off the card with Quickie Glue pen and Prisma Glitter to add detail to the Yeti, snowballs, and stars. Then I put a generous amount of Lawn Fawn Glue Tube along the “ground” and sprinkled Chunky Glitter.
Be sure to head on over to my friend Cheiron’s site, she has some fabulous holiday inspiration for you too! Then your turn to make a holiday card! It’s fun when there is less pressure 😉
