Get crackin’ on Christmas, Dear Santa

01/18/2018

Get cracking on Christmas | shurkus.com

Ok, let’s be honest.

November rolls around and we say to ourselves “man I should’ve started to make holiday cards A LOT sooner.

or

I have so many wicked cute holiday sets that I haven’t even had a chance to play with yet.

I am going to guess that most of you who are reading this post fall into one if not both of those scenarios. So I was talking with my crafty friends Chari and Cheiron, and I mentioned it would be fun to challenge each other to create at least one holiday card a month. I mean, that would give me 12 handmade holiday cards to send out this year and that would be way more then I sent out last year.

So each month on the third Thursday each of us girls is going to post our holiday creation and hopefully inspire you to create one too! If you do end up making any please leave a comment below with a link, or tag me on instagram so I can see! We are also going to use the hashtag #getcrackingonchristmas

We can do this! We can create holiday cards all year, and be a little bit more prepared for the holiday season!

I had these adorable sets from Honey Bee, Blah Hum Bunny and Blah Blah Blah:

I decided to make a holiday card and then I was having so much fun giving the bunnies patterned scarves and ink smooshing backgrounds I made some encouragement cards too!

And there you go I have 5 cards ready to go! Another thing I struggle with is actually mailing handmade cards. All year long I say I am going to do so and it ends up at the bottom of my to-do list. I recently posted this on instagram:

I have a confession. I have confessed this before. I am@horrible at actually mailing my handmade cards to friends 😔 it’s not that I avoid it on purpose it just ends up at the very bottom of my to-do list. I decided this year, during all my travels I am going g to bring a couple cards with me on the plane and write them out to friends 😊❤️ I will have the envelopes already with stamps on them and then I will just mail them from my destination 😊🎉 fun right?

So, I know those encouragement cards will get put to good use soon!

Ok, time for you to go visit Chari and Cheiron and see what they created THEN your turn to make a holiday card! I can’t wait to see what you make 🙂

Your cards are cute. I like your idea of making one card so I’m going to follow suit. It’s a good thing I have your blog post to remind me so you know I’ll be looking for it. Thanks for an awesome idea and the inspiration.

Great idea. My friends and I are organizing a Christmas in July crop just to make our Christmas cards but I’m going to use your idea and start testing ideas now so by July I’ll have an idea ready. Or two or three ideas because Zi handmake cards for my kids’s piano teacher and my mother. I definitely need to get crackin’!

    Jenn,

I fall into BOTH catagories, GUILTY as charged! I would LOVE to take this idea and run (or at least calmly walk) with it!!! Unfortunately for me, due to personal reasons, January isn’t looking all that great……and February is looking to follow in January’s heels! This has been ongoing for nearly TWO years now, don’t know how much longer I can hold on. Without getting into a sad story, some prayers ( from any & all) would be welcome!
On a brighter note…….I adore your cards and I even have the same (unused) stamps!
Enjoy your trip! And thank you for allowing us to “join you” via your posts!

Did think when I read the tittle, you’ve gone mad here, but read it all, and admired all those fantastic cards and I agree with the three of you. Let’s give it a go, now I’m new to this so the stamp supply is limited and currently I’ve started this for therapy so don’t expect much. Good idea about posting the encouraging or empowering cards when you travel will give you time and chance to write more.

That bunny and those cards are adorable! I did create Christmas cards throughout 2017 and had enough to send out this year. It felt so good and was pure fun, no pain or rushed feeling. I plan to do that again!
