Don’t Bug Out, Tim Holtz

I want nothing to do with real life bugs, but when I saw this set I just had to have it! I thought it was perfect to combine them with some texture paste for this week’s challenge.

For this first card I stamped out a bunch of the bugs with Black Soot Archival Ink, and then ink blended over them with rainbow colors (my goto: picked raspberry, festive berries, spiced marmalade, twisted citron, peacock feathers, wilted violet). I then proceeded to fussy cut out all of the bugs.

The background script stamp that came with the set is what I used for the background. I tore the corner of the card and exposed some texture paste through Tim’s Linen Layering Stencil. ( I sprayed Black Soot Distress Spray Stain all over it)

To finish off this card I added some glossy accents to the bugs as well as some Rock Candy Distress Stickles ( so very sad that this is discontinued and I am almost out of my supply)

For this second card, I stamped 3 of the bugs down the center. I also stamped them on another piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I watercolored both with Distress Inks. I fussy cut out their wings from one of the sets and set that aside.

I then masked them off and stamped the script background stamp over them on one of the sheets. I tore down both sides of the Distress Watercolor Cardstock.

On another piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, I used texture paste and the Linen Layering Stencil down both sides. I then sprayed it with Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain.

I adhered the bug layer to the textured background. Then I used foam dots to add the fussy cut wings to add some more dimension. I added a little more of the Distress Rock Candy Stickles to their wings.
