In case you haven’t heard, we’ve been getting a TON of snow here in New England! It’s not that we aren’t used to having snowy winters its how close together the storms have been and how much white stuff they have dropped on us each storm. It has been hard for towns/cities to keep up with clearing the roads etc- so needless to say I have had quite few snow days from my day job. You know what that means…. CRAFTY TIME! 🙂
I didn’t have the time to put together a Valentine Blog Series this year, but I have had a chance to create a lot of Valentine Inspiration!
During Storm Nemo a couple weeks ago I was cranking out Valentine Cards like crazy! I shared some sneak peeks on instagram and I have already shared a few of them here and here.
Today I want to share with you 3 cards I created with Lawn Fawn stamps. I have been trying to look at older stamp sets or everyday stamp sets and create with them in a unique way. Similar to how I created this card for Valentine’s Day, but the image was from a Christmas stamp set. This is a great way to get more bang for your buck!
Robot Love
For this first card I used Lawn Fawn’s Beep Boop Birthday. The robots are having a love affair 😉
The heart and the “xo” was stamped with Simon Says Stamp Hot Lips Dye Ink (it is seriously my new fave red!) and the “xo” is Lawn Fawn’s Smitty’s ABC’s, I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Journaling Card. Did you know this is also the perfect size for Pocket Scrapbooking, 3×4 Cards? I was playing with watercoloring with Distress Inks- SO relaxing 🙂 Distress Ink colors I used: Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass and Pumice Stone. I wanted a darker gray for the stamped outlines so I used Archival Watering Can Dye Ink.
Whale you be MINE
For the next card I did use a Valentine themed stamp set from Lawn Fawn. The Whale You Be Mine set is one of their 2×3 clear sets. They retail for around $4 and there is 6 stamp images included so you are already getting a lot of bang for your buck! Of course the whales can be used on some nautical and summer cards and I envision a lot of creative uses for the dashed swirls too!
Again I am watercoloring with Distress Inks. I used Pumice Stone and Worn Lipstick. Worn Lipstick is one of the oldest Distress Ink colors and I have fallen in love with it all over again! I actually started coloring these whales when Chris Judge was filming me for my intro video. I loved adding the little bit of worn lipstick to their cheeks to make them blush. I created my own notecard with some Memory Box Distressed Dot 8.5 x 11 cardstock, and rounded the corners. I stamped out the word “mine” with Quinn’s ABC’s which I also have a new love affair for. There is lowercase (which I used here) and coordinating dies as well as upper and numbers. Did you know that all of Lawn Fawn’s alphabets are hand drawn!?! This typography loving girl LOVES that! I also used Quinn’s ABC’s on this Clean and Simple card and as a background on this card. I accidentally smudged a little on the scallop circle the whales are on- so splatters were the next best thing to fix that! I added a little added Rock Candy Distress Stickles in the heart for a little sparkle.
Happy Camper
And, I saved the best for last! Well, MY favorite at least. This is one of those cards I envisioned in my head, but wasn’t quite sure how it would come out. I also spent a long time on it, longer then I do for most of the cards I create but I absolutely LOVE how it came out, so it was worth it!
After I had created Valentine Robots I was convinced that if you make anything a pink and red hue that it will look the part for a Valentine’s Day card! I used Lawn Fawn’s Happy Trails set. This is one of their 3×4 sets and like the 2×3 sets SO reasonably priced for around $8 you get TWELVE images!
I had so much fun creating my sentiment on the above “Whale you be MINE” card I played a little bit with a custom sentiment here as well. “Happy Camper” – I used Harold’s ABC’s for “happy” and Finley’s ABC’s for “camper”.
I die cut the letters for “camper” out of Distress Watercolor Paper and colored them with a mix of Distress Inks (Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick). The same colors were used throughout the card with a teeny bit of Tumbled Glass in the campers windows ;).
I also have a confession: I used a bit too much water when coloring the camper and the colors bled out of the lines a bit. I dried it completely with my heat tool and then covered it with a Uni-ball White Gel Pen– can you find it? Most likely not 😉 The scalloped circle is from Lawn Fawn’s stackable scallop circles and the banner is from the Bannerific Die set, I just didn’t stamp an image.
I also used Versafine Smokey Gray for all my stamping on this card. I like the soft look it gives and versafine is my go-to ink pad when watercoloring!
If you are still looking for some Valentine inspiration be sure to peek at the Blog Series I offered last year. I shared 14 different projects and I also had 14 of my creative friends share creations as well! You can see all the posts here
