Show Us Your Media: Simple Pleasure

Ranger and Dina Wakley are teaming up again for another exciting Show Us Your Media challenge. For the next 12 months, Dina will be providing an art journal prompt every month focusing on gratitude. We will be working in the Dina Wakley Media 6” x 6” White Journal and it is our hope that at the end of the year all the participants will have a completed gratitude journal.

Today is the official launch of the new challenge and the challenge prompt is: What is a simple pleasure you are grateful for?

I am excited to play along! You may not realize it, but I LOVE to art journal. I just haven’t had a ton of time for it lately. Having these prompts will kick my butt in gear!

Simple Pleasure

I am working in Dina Wakley’s 6×6 journal. I love that the size isn’t intimidating. This will also help me each month get some pages done since they aren’t too big.

I started by gesso’ing the pages – Dina teaches you in your classes it’s like your underwear… don’t want to get dressed without it. ha! Then I played with water and Dina’s paints. I used Ocean, Mineral, Cheddar, Magenta.

I tried to loosely paint the ocean and sun. I wanted it to be recognizable, but not over the top.

I used Dina’s Petal’s Stencil to wipe away a bit of the paint and leave some markings. I also added some Backgrounds Collage Paper.

I added some paint to the loose script stamp in Dina’s Refuse To Be Ordinary Stamp Set, and stamped all over adding texture.

Smooshed some paint on a small tag, added some journaling with a Fude Ball pen to that and my pages and then taped it in with Dina’s Washi Tape, creating a hinge.

I really enjoyed getting some paint under my nails. I am looking forward to participating each month and taking some time to reflect on what I am grateful for.
