There are several ways you can create a mask:
- by simply tearing paper you can create hills and valleys
- die cutting a shape
- using a stencil
- masking fluid
- simply stamping an image onto scratch paper and cutting around it
The possibilities are almost endless! We will be looking forward to seeing what technique you use to create your project!
We are featuring Altenew this week. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge, but if you have them we would love to see them used! As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store! YAY!
Masking & Watercoloring with Altenew
I am using 2 sets today. Painted Inspiration and Simple Shapes. I started out by stamping the sentiment on a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I then placed some Post It Tape over the sentiment in a block shape. Taking all the different shapes from the Simple Shapes Set, I stamped with versamark and then heat embossed with white powder. When I peeled the masking tape off I then watercolored with different Distress Ink colors. This is a very different look then something I would normally make but I think they turned out to be fun encouragement cards!
Ok- so now it’s time for YOU to enter the challenge. Remember, Mask It! is the theme so have fun! Just by playing along and linking up your project to the SSS Wednesday Challenge post you can qualify to enter a $50 shopping voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.
Also if you are on instagram tag your photo with #ssswchallenge 🙂 There will be ONE lucky winner that will be chosen at random, it could be you!

Simon Says Stamp!
Oh I love these, they are so fun. Love the sentiments too and the bright colours perfect for summer. Cx
This is one of the coolest cards I’ve ever seen. Love the water coloring, and it goes perfectly with the sentiments and the shapes. Thanks for showing them both off–I never would have known what to do with either!
Very artsy & fun! Would never have thought to do this!
