Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit

If you follow my blog or even me on instagram, you know I LOVE all things nautical! I was so excited when I saw this kit Sail Away With Me. Since I had it a little early I was able to create this card and hopefully inspire you for ideas when you get your kit! This kit is full of nautical goodies that I haven’t even touched on yet! The stamp set, Sailing is a lot of fun. There is also a  Sailboat die, Tim Holtz Souvenir Adornments, Authentique’s Seaside 6×6 papers, May Arts burlap twine, and more! I was a long time subscriber to Simon Says Stamp’s Card Kits before I was on their design team and I have always felt like it is such a great value for what you pay!

My #artsyfartsygirls Lynn and Rachel came over on Friday so we could work on our June Tag. I will share that soon but that is when I played with this kit. Luckily Rachel was there as she made this awesome nautical knot for me 🙂

I wanted to set up a nice little sailing scene while showcasing some of the papers you got in the kit as well. I started by die-cutting the Lawn Fawn stitched party banner. I then stamped and embossed the waves multiple times up the banner. I used a mini ink blending tool and inked it with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  I then stamped and embossed one of the clouds from the stamp set. To make this stand out I spritzed some Tumbled Glass Distress Spray Stain on my craft mat, then I laid down some clean water around the cloud with my paintbrush, and then touched the tumbled glass ink to it. This gives you a really nice organic feel.

I stamped and embossed the sailboat and used Distress Markers to color it (Festive Berries, Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans). Then on a piece of vellum I stamped and embossed the word “lifesaver” from one of the sentiments. When I adhered this to the card I hid my adhesive with that cute little heart. I stamped “you are a” and cut it in what I like to call “word-fetti”

Rachel was busy watching a youtube video, and creating the nautical knot for me 🙂
I layered the Stitched Party Banner on a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and then also used one of the fun pattern papers from the kit.
