Special Thank You to Paper Crafts Magazine

Hey everyone! Either you got here from Leigh Penner’s blog or you are one of my faithful blog readers- either way this is a very special post. If you haven’t heard yet, Papercrafts & Scrapbooking Magazine is stopping production with the February 2015 issue. It’s a sad day in craft land. A lot of people are wondering if this hobby is becoming less popular. I say NO WAY! Unfortunately magazines, newspapers and book printers are having a hard time keeping up in this digital age. Competing with blogs and pinterest that have any idea you would ever be looking for at your fingertip… and free its tough to keep a business profitable.

Anyways, this post and this massive blog hop is our way to say thank you!

Would you know I never submitted any cards to get published!? Even after many encouraging prompts from Susan Opel. I always thought there would be time. With all the in-person classes I teach it was hard for me to devote time to the calls and be thinking about 6 months ahead when I was busy designing/teaching for the present.

I am so proud of my friends who got published and even made it on the cover!!

I will always regret not submitting.

Papercrafts Magazine has always been a favorite of mine and a HUGE source of inspiration! I used to love when a new issue would come into the store I used to manage. We got many ideas for events at the stores, classes and store samples from that magazine!

Thank you to all the editors, go-to gals, everyone that got around to submitting and being published and in return inspiring me. Thank you.

I finally got a chance to really play with the Lawn Fawn Penelope’s Blossoms set. It is soooo pretty. I used Distress Markers and colored directly on the stamp, stamping on watercolor paper and then using a waterbrush to give it the watercolor look. I used the coordinating die set – boy was that a time saver! For the sentiment I used the “Thank You So Much” from the Lawn Fawn Thank You Tag set. I added some dots of gold stickles and rock candy distress stickles on some of the orange flowers. It is so pretty in person!
