Hello everyone! I am back with another year of Get Cracking on Christmas! I’m so excited to share another year of Get Cracking on Christmas with you. Being able to work on my holiday card stash throughout the year, with no stress, is such a gift. I love creating with stamps and supplies that have been patiently waiting to be used and experimenting with new techniques along the way. Here’s to creative play, using what we have, and heading into the new year inspired and ready to keep cracking on Christmas. 💕✨

Get Cracking: A Sparkly Winter Specimen Card
Today I’m sharing a card that was actually inspired by a bonus card I created for my Meow-gical Mischief online class. I loved that design so much that I couldn’t resist re-creating it with a different theme, this time featuring winter! There’s something about the layout that reminds me of a specimen display, like you’d see pinned up in a little glass case, and I think it works just as well for snowflakes and snow friends as it did for the original.
To color the stitched snowflakes, I had fun watercoloring them with Distress Watercolor Pencils, building up all those cool purples and blues. The cute images were colored with Copic markers. I share the specific colors I used below.
For the background, I mixed Distress Watercolor Pencils with Gansai Tambi Opal paints to get a little shimmer going. I love how that combo adds just a touch of sparkle without being over the top.
And speaking of sparkle… I could not stop adding it to this one! I layered in Prisma Glitter, Distress Rock Candy Clear, and Distress Rock Candy Chunky for lots of different textures and shine.
I can’t wait to share exactly how I put this card together during my LIVE, and fair warning, I might just switch up the color palette when I do! Hope you can join me live, or catch the replay after.
