Get Cracking: Penguin Parade

Today I’m sharing one of those cards where I had a vision in my head and just went for it, and honestly? I’m so glad I did! I wanted to create a textured snowflake border completely from scratch, and this little penguin scene turned out even cuter than I imagined.
I started with a simple ink blend using Lawn Fawn inks in Plastic Flamingo and Merman, that combo gives the softest, dreamiest background, and the pink-to-teal blend just feels so festive and fun. Then came the really good part: stamping and coloring all the adorable images from Lawn Fawn’s Penguin Party and Here We Go A-Waddling stamp sets. I used OLO markers to color everything (color swatches are below! ), and I stamped the cutest little music note speech bubble in Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide.
Of course, no card of mine is complete without some sparkle, I added Prisma glitter with a Quickie Glue Pen to ALL the images. Because glitter makes everything better.
For my textured border, I die-cut Stitched Snowflakes two ways: some from Pixie Dust Sparkle cardstock and some from ink-blended cardstock using my Merman ink pad. Layering those together created the most gorgeous, dimensional border, exactly what I had pictured! I then arranged my little penguin scene on the card and finished with “Happy Holidays” from Scribbled Sentiments: Winter.
The final touch? Glossy Accents on the holiday lights, the hearts on the sign, the top of the sign post, and the little hearts coming out of the chimney. That wet, shiny look adds so much life to the details!
I am absolutely in love with how this card came together, and I cannot wait to walk you through the whole process LIVE, the ink blending, the snowflake border technique, the coloring, all of it! Come craft with me and bring your Quickie Glue Pen, because we’re gonna be glittering ALL the things. A full shoppable supply list is waiting for you at the bottom of this post, happy crafting!
