Hero Arts Friends With Flair Release – Rainbow Vibes & Retro Feels
Hero Arts has a fun new release, and this one took me straight back to my childhood, we’re talking Fun with Flair!
If you grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, you know exactly what I mean. Jean jackets covered in pins and buttons, each one a little statement of personality. Smiley faces, strawberries, rainbows, this collection is pure nostalgia in stamp and die form, and I am HERE for it.
I actually had to stop myself from going overboard, because the flair is so fun it’s easy to want to use ALL of it. But for these cards, I really wanted to let the flair be the star, so I kept the backgrounds intentionally simple and clean.
Let’s Talk Technique
The one detail I couldn’t resist? The suspenders. I knew right away they needed to be rainbow-colored, and I love how that stripe of color anchors the whole design without competing with all the cute little pieces.
Here’s how I pulled it all together:
- For all the colored die-cut flair pieces, I reached for my Copic Markers rather than digging through my cardstock stash. So much easier for small detailed pieces.
- I popped up every single piece of flair with foam squares. This is the detail that really makes the cards, it gives that genuine raised, dimensional look of actual pins on a jacket.
- For sparkle, I went with Stickles glitter glue. I love that Stickles adds both shine and dimension, so the flair pieces really do look like little enamel pins with that domed, shiny finish.
The result? Cards that feel playful, retro, and just a little bit extra, in the best possible way.
