Happy New Year, Lawn Fawn

I love creating winter cards that feel calm, cozy, and a little magical, and this snowy village scene was such a joy to put together. Soft watercolor layers, glowing windows, and lots of snowy texture make this card feel like a peaceful winter night welcoming in the new year.
I started by creating the sky background using Distress Watercolor Cardstock and Distress Watercolor Pencils. Once the background was dry, I splattered it with white paint to create falling snow, one of my favorite simple details that instantly adds movement and atmosphere.
For the village, I die-cut the houses and trees from white cardstock and added soft watercolor shading to the trees for a frosty, wintery look. To give the scene depth and interest, I layered everything along a snowy hillside and added texture paste to the rooftops for that piled-high snow effect. This step really brings the scene to life and adds so much dimension in person.
The sentiment was stamped and die-cut, then popped up with foam adhesive to give it a little separation from the background. I finished the card by adding=a bit of sparkle to enhance the snowy feel with Distress Snowflakes and Distress Rock Candy Chunky.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope this card inspires you to play with watercolor backgrounds and texture on your own projects. Wishing you a creative and happy new year! 💙✨
