Harvest Halloween, Lawn Fawn

Since Happy Harvest was released back in 2015, it’s been a staple in my fall and Halloween card designs. I lovingly call the scarecrow “Mr. Harvest,” and he always made an appearance in my in-person fall classes. No matter what new fall or Halloween sets Lawn Fawn released, Happy Harvest always coordinated perfectly, one of the many things I adore about Lawn Fawn! Their products play so well together, and they rarely retire sets.
This year, however, Lawn Fawn has created a special “Retiring Soon” section on their website. Once those items are gone, they’re gone for good! As they celebrate their 15th anniversary, they’re making space for exciting new releases, so definitely check it out before your favorites disappear.
For this card, I had a blast combining Happy Harvest with the new Halloween Mice set to create a fun and festive Halloween scene. I loved how my background turned out so much that I decided to continue the design on the inside of the card, there just wasn’t enough room on the front for everything!

To create the background, I ink blended Lawn Fawn inks in Merman, Moonstone, Bubblegum, Sugarplum, and Deep Sea. Then, I used the Stratus Cloud stencil with Manatee ink—and that’s where the magic happened! The soft clouds added such a cool touch to the sky.
For the moon, I die-cut it with the Full Moon die and ink-blended Butter, Sunflower, No. 2 Pencil, and Manatee inks. Since it was a little large for my layout, I used the Outside In Stitched Circles to cut an opening in the background and tucked the moon behind it for a layered effect.

To complete the scene, I added die-cuts from Birch Trees, Little Farm Fence Border, and Meadow Borders; they were perfect for grounding the design.
All the images were colored with Copic markers (alcohol-based), and below I’ve included color swatches so you can easily recreate the look with your preferred coloring medium.
If you want to dive deeper into coloring with Copics or other alcohol markers, check out my Copic 101 online class. It’s a great way to build your confidence and even includes a printed workbook shipped right to you!
For the sentiments, I white-embossed everything on black cardstock, including the speech bubbles, and I love how bold it looks! Whenever I emboss, I prep the surface with the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool and use a white pigment ink before applying white embossing powder for a crisp finish. Of course, there is some sparkle with Prisma Glitter, and sparkle cardstock stars cut from the Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag die.

🎃 Did you make any Halloween cards this year? I sent out several to the kids—and the “big kids”—in my life, and it’s always such a treat to share a little handmade spooky cheer!
