I am back with a Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge card!
This week’s challenge is Thanks/Thanksgiving – the design team is featuring Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products! Not only does Simon Says Stamp stock all kinda of fabulous companies and product they also create their own exclusive products! Stamps, dies, stencils, inks paper and more! I have quite the stash of Simon Says Stamp products in my studio and my creative brain was going in 2 different directions. I had a fall, Thanksgiving idea and then I also had a fun and cute Thank You idea. I decided to create BOTH of them and share them with you today!
For the first card I used an older Simon Says Stamp set, Furry Kisses. I just love when Kristina Werner designs sets with these kitties because it gives me an excuse to color them like Mister Harley. I gave him a yellow tabby kitty as a friend here. I paired the image with some wicked cute Lawn Fawn Let’s Polka papers from the 6×6 paper pad. That is what I also used to cut the “thanks” with.
When you don’t want to fussy cut things like whiskers out- remember you can stamp the image on your card, and fussy cut out the easy parts and paper piece over the other stamped image.
And for a totally different styled card I broke out the Distress Inks, Watercolor paper, and Rock Candy Crackle paint. I used the Simon Says Stamp Summer Garden stamp set and gave it a fall look. I started by inking different distress inks on the leaves. I used different combos of Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Rusty Hinge, Barn Door and Vintage photo. I then stamped them on Distress watercolor paper, and took a waterbrush to them to blend them a bit. I did the same with the flower only concentrating Mustard Seed in the center, then worked my way out with Rusty Hinge and Barn Door. I fussy cut it all out and started to arrange it on my card. I stamped the YOU from Hello You set and die cut another “thanks” only this time I cut the “s” off. I inked it up with Peeled Paint and adhered it to the card with Tombo mono glue. I am finding I like that adhesive for the smaller more dainty dies.
Once the card was situated I wanted to add some texture to it. I thought of the Rock Candy Crackle paint… after digging around my supplies I found it but when I opened it I realized I hadn’t used it in a long time. I wasn’t sure it was going to crackle. I decided to take a chance and slapped some on the flower and some of the leaves. What a relief when I woke up in the morning and saw the nice crackle effect that DID work!
Ok- so now it’s time for YOU to enter the challenge. Create a thanksgiving or thank you project!
Just by playing along and linking up your project to the SSS Wednesday Challenge post you can qualify to enter a $50 shopping voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.
One lucky winner will be chosen at random, it could be you!
