Hi everyone! Honey Bee Stamps has a fabulous new release! The new Falloween release is available now and filled with fun stamps, dies, paper, and more for fall and Halloween!
It’s no surprise that the first project I want to share with you is with the new Lovely Layers: Scardey Cat – you all know I love black kitties, and it’s hard for me to resist all the fun around Halloween! I diecut the pieces of the cat and the pumpkin out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock and watercolored them with Distress Watercolor Pencils.
On another piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, I added some Milled Lavender Distress Watercolor Pencil to my paintbrush and swiped on wispy lines along the background. I wanted this to remain pretty light but to give an eerie, spooky feel. I then used the moon from the Owlloween set, I scribbled Distress Watercolor Pencils directly onto it, and stamped it over the misty, spooky sky background I created. This helped define the circle shape perfectly for the moon; then, I could manipulate it a bit with a few different yellow colors, and I painted it in filling in the moon. I dried this background with the Ranger Heat Tool; then I stamped a few bats from the Owlloween set in Versafine onyx black ink.
I covered the moon with the stamp to mask it off, then splattered some gold paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Palette to create some stars. I then carefully filled in the bats with a Black Glaze Pen to give them a bit of shine. I watercolored a little ground for the cat and pumpkin to sit on with Villianous Potion Distress Watercolor Pencil, and then I adhered the pumpkin flat and added the cat with black foam squares.
I white embossed “Happy Meowloween!” from the Sweet Halloween stamp set for the sentiment. This set is filled with a bunch of fun messages!
I embossed it on black cardstock. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. I stamp the image several times over using a Misti and Yeti white pigment ink, then sprinkle the Alabaster embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I then used the coordinating die for Sweet Halloween to cut the sentiment out and add it to my card with black foam strips.
I then added some Distress Rock Candy accents to the moon. I free-handed these with Distress Collage medium. I also added a few gems from the Sweet & Spooky Gem pack. I love these gem assortments from Honey Bee Stamps and find myself grabbing them often.
I used Distress Watercolor Pencils and Distress Watercolor Cardstock to create this card. Anyone can be a watercolor artist with just a few simple tools.
