Many of you know of my obsession with foam tape.on.every.card. So these “one layer cards” are tough for me. You can see last year when I was new to the lawnscaping challenge design team I created this card– which clearly was a rule breaker. So, this year i decided to stay within the rules with this fun card. This challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp- so when you enter a creation you have a chance of winning a GC from them!!
I am obsessed with the neon inks from Hero Arts, and just LOVE playing with them!! Also, a little quickie glue pen and ultrafine glitter goes a long way to add some sparkle to any card- as you can see here:
As I was creating this card, I decided last minute to snap some pics of how it came together. Please excuse the messy desk, and not so great lighting- it was a last minute thought and I figured it gives you a better idea on how to recreate this card.
I started by masking out a rectangle on the front of the card. I used a pre-cut ATC card with a little adhesive on the back to hold it in place
Start stamping your back ground stamps, in this case the firework stamps from the Lawn Fawn “Happy 4th” set. Be sure to stamp them off the edge of the card and onto the masked piece too to achieve a better pattern throughout the card. Once you peel off your masked piece you will see something like this:
I then trimmed another ATC card to be slightly smaller then the masked piece was. I used that to trace the rectangle with a black glaze pen. I then moved this piece away and did another frame around with the same black glaze pen. Then I added the sentiment and glittered the fireworks and this “One Layer Card” is done! Hope you enjoyed it!
Jenn, this is so pretty. The neon colors just pop off the page!
thank you charlene 🙂 i am ADDICTED to the neon inks! 😉
What a fun, happy card! Love how the glitter adds texture without adding another layer to the card. Glad to be designing with you this month!
