Hocus Pocus, Lawn Fawn

I couldn’t wait to get my watercolors out for these fun dies from Lawn Fawn! Using Distress Watercolor Pencils, I added soft color to the pumpkin, the stack of spooky books, and the potion bottle, letting the pigment blend and pool the way only watercolor pencils can. I also tucked in a few touches of sparkle cardstock here and there, because, well, glitter all the things, right?
One of my favorite parts of this card is how the potion bubbles turned out. I watercolored them first for that soft, glowing color, then built up three layers of Glossy Accents on top to give them real dimension. The result is a set of bubbles that almost look like they’re floating right off the page.
To finish things off, I added splatters using Distress Watercolor Pencils and Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White for extra contrast, then scattered in a sprinkle of stars cut with the Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag die. That die has become one of my go-to favorites this Halloween season, it adds just the right amount of whimsy without overpowering the design.
This card came together as a little celebration of everything I love about the season: rich, moody color, a bit of sparkle, and details that reward a closer look. I hope it inspires you to pull out your own watercolor pencils and see where a little bubbling potion and a stack of spellbooks can take you this Halloween.
Thanks so much for stopping by! You’ll find the full supply list linked at the end of this post, so be sure to check it out if you’d like to recreate this look yourself.
