Learn more about OLO Fine Nib Markers

Hi everyone! I had so much fun with Lori Craig from OLO Markers on our LIVE last night! Thank you so much to Scrapbook & Cards Today for letting us take over your channel and share information about the new OLO fine nib markers. We colored images from the Lawn Fawn Hocus Purr-cus set while answering questions and going over tips and best practices. If you missed the LIVE you can still catch the replay.

I’ve been coloring and teaching with alcohol-based markers for over 20 years now, and I love sharing an easy approach to coloring with them, usually a two-color blending method. Because my style often gravitates toward smaller images, I also love having the option of a fine nib to color with. It helps me get into smaller areas as well as control the ink flow so I don’t overflood the image.

For years, I’ve shared my coloring approach, a set of colors to get started with, and my favorite two-color blends in this post here. I also have an online alcohol-marker coloring class. You don’t need specific stamps to take the class, since a workbook is shipped to you so we’re all working with and learning from the same images. I have plans to add on to this class with more lessons specific to OLO markers, and anyone who has registered for the class so far will automatically get access to the new lessons at no additional cost.

Lori and I promised to share the cards we colored last night, so today I’m sharing mine with you. As I mentioned, we used the Lawn Fawn stamp set Hocus Purr-cus — such a fun set for not only Halloween cards, but magical friendship cards too! I’m looking forward to the upcoming Create With Us, the free mini classes I host with Kelly Marie from Lawn Fawn on Lawn Fawn’s YouTube channel. I also have an upcoming online class, Meow-gical Mischief, using this same set. So many fun opportunities to learn and get guidance with it!

For my card, I stamped my images with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink, which works with both alcohol-based markers and watercoloring. I stamped on Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock (Lawn Fawn’s 80# white cardstock works just as well). You can see a swatch list below of the OLO marker colors I used to color my images, and of course you can watch me color them during the replay of our YouTube video too.

I die-cut all of the images, then glittered all the things with my Quickie Glue Pen and Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter. I also added a few cheek freckles to the kitties’ rosy cheeks with a fine-tip POSCA white pen.

For the background, I used Distress Watercolor Pencils in Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet on Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I die-cut Lawn Fawn’s Peek-a-Boo Backdrop out of Black Sparkle Cardstock and added it to the background with Black Foam strips. I attached all of the images to the card, some on black foam squares for dimension, some flat with Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. I added a few die-cut stars from Lawn Fawn’s Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag die in Amethyst Sparkle Cardstock, plus a few iridescent sequins. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment and a few “sparkles” from the Hocus Purr-cus set with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
