I decided to showcase some more of the new STAMPtember® products that have just been released. CLICK HERE to see them all. It is a HUGE release with loads of fabulous stamps, dies, stencils and much more!
Today I have 2 different cards for you, and although a lot of the STAMPtember® products are focused around the holidays- these 2 cards are not. I am not quite ready to say goodbye to summer.
For this fun card I used the new Zig Zag Dots Stencil and….. DISTRESS INKS! I told you guys, I am obsessed with these inks all over again! I can’t stop playing with them!! I used some painters tape and held my stencil down over some Neenah Cardstock. I then took a long stirp of painters tape to cover the 2nd row of zig zags as you can see below.
I then used my mini ink blending tool and colored in the first row with Barn Door Distress Ink. I unmasked the 2nd row of zig zags and masked the 1st and 3rd row, then inked the 2nd row in Wild Honey Distress Ink. I kept doing this down my cardstock (Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves Distress Ink). I then stamped, colored with copics and fussy cut out the dog and cat from the Playful Pets stamp set. I have the dies, but I was too lazy to look for them- I need to spend some time ORGANIZING! For the sentiment I used the same Distress Ink colors, only I used Distress Markers, brushing directly on the stamp, huffing, and then stamping. I love how this turned out! And, because all cards could use some sequins… I add a few of those too!
For my 2nd card I used the new You’re So Sweet set. I loved watching Shari and Heidi talk about the new STAMPtember® product release here. I loved hearing how Heidi LOVES emoji’s and she wanted fruit to match that style. I had a lot of fun coloring these images with copics. I tend to use google search “cherries” and then look at the image results, find a cartoonish image and use that for reference on color, and shading. I know I need some more practice with my Copic coloring. I know how to blend etc. I just feel I could be better at it. I am in awe when I see the creations Sandy Allnock and Kathy Racoosin create! That is why I didn’t even think about signing up for their Copic Coloring class at Online Card Classes. I teach beginner Copic classes, but I feel that you should always be learning. I also love to see how other people do things.
I didn’t have the dies for this set, so I fussy cut them out. I heat embossed the sentiment in white. I just love how that looks on kraft cardstock. Using my quickie glue pen I jazzed all the fruit up with some ultra-fine crystal glitter. So pretty in person. I laid the fruit out and overlapped using foam tape on some of the images to pop them up!
A little more about Copic Coloring. Sandy had put a request out on instagram for all different skin tones to use as a reference for coloring with Copics. In the summer I am full of freckles and pretty bronze 😉 So I used the #copicskin on one of my photos. Next thing I knew I was being tagged in a photo on instagram. It was so fun to open the app and see this cute face Sandy colored using my freckled beach face for a reference! She did a whole blog post about Copic Skin coloring as well. I sent her my mailing addi, and she sent me her piece of art- i love it even more in person and I seriously might frame it for my desk at work! Below is the link to the Online Card Class all about Copics for Cardmakers and I highly recommend signing up!
That is ADORABLE!! What a great piece of art to have.
Awww… what a cute #copicskin image of a summer freckled you!! Your cards are fun–love that zig zag dots stencil!
