Some of you might remember this post back in January where I started the 12 Tags of 2015 Journey… If you remember that post you might also realize I haven’t posted a tag since. Bad Jenn! Well, life happens and sometimes you get behind on a project but I am happy to report that I have caught up on all my tags for 2015. I will share my other tags later on, but to stay current I wanted to share the May tag now.
I really love this process- seeing Tim Holtz’s tag. The supplies he used the techniques he shared, and then creating my own. You get to learn new things and more importantly you get some artsy fartsy time! I can see that some months my tag is going to take on a whole new direction and be very different from Tim’s and other months they will be direct copies. The direct copies don’t bother me because I am still getting ink on my hands and learning something!
I work at Providence College and on Fridays in the summer we get out at 2p. So last summer I started a little tradition with some creative girls where we would get together and have a creative session together. Last week Lynn and Rachel came over and we caught up on our Tim’s Tags, created some other really fun stuff, ordered take out and filled our red solo cups with yummy beverages 😉
So I have to admit, I wasn’t too excited to create May’s. Mother’s Day isn’t a theme that I am really inspired but- but this is a perfect example of how you can create the tags and have them be more your own. Flipping through the deck of found relatives I found this younger girl in a bathing suit- and immediately was drawn to her. I love the water. I grew up always on a lake or river swimming the days away and now I can’t get enough of the ocean. I knew this was the perfect image for me to use for this tag!
Adding color to the photo with Distress Markers and a q-tip is something I haven’t done in a long time and I really love how it turned out. I added in a real seashell and starfish to go with the ocean theme. I seriously can not get enough of the chit chat or small talk stickers 🙂 Where have they been all my life!?! I just love how the texture paste looks on the burlap as well- so much dimension and inky goodness!
Remember Tim Holtz gives awesome step by step directions with a photo tutorial- easy to play along!
Here are some close up photos so you can see all the details:
I will be back over the next couple days to share April, March and February’s Tags- hope you will come back to visit!
