Powertex is an exciting and versatile medium that opens up a world of creative possibilities. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Powertex is a nontoxic, environmentally friendly line of products centered around Universal Medium, which acts as a textile hardener. This medium allows you to transform everyday fabrics, papers, and other porous materials into solid, durable art pieces.
In this class, we’ll dive into some of the fascinating techniques Powertex offers, such as Bister Blister, a unique method for creating textured, aged effects on surfaces; Lace Hardening, where we’ll transform lace into hardened, sculptural elements; and Creating Skins, a technique that allows you to make flexible, textured layers to add dimension to your work. These methods will be applied on a wood canvas, giving you a sturdy base for your creations.
Because some of these processes require extended drying times, this class will be divided into two sessions. This format ensures that your project has ample time to set, allowing us to focus on one technique at a time and build layers without rushing. By the end of the class, youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll have a beautifully textured and dynamic piece of art, along with the knowledge and skills to continue experimenting with Powertex in your future projects. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or new to mixed media, this workshop promises to be an inspiring and hands-on journey into the world of Powertex.
